Latino Celebrities to Raise Money in Pre-Game Pitching Challenge
WHAT: The Los Angeles Dodgers and Latino celebrities will team up
with The Wall-Las Memorias Project to sponsor the second annual
Latino Celebrity Challenge: STRIKE OUT AIDS on Saturday,
September 7, 2002 at Dodger Stadium. The goal of STRIKE OUT
AIDS is to increase awareness about the impact of AIDS in the
Latino community and raise funds for an Eastside AIDS memorial.
Tickets for the game and pre-game celebrity challenge may be
purchased by calling 323/224-1313 or visiting The Wall-Las
Memorias Project website at www.thewalllasmemorias.org. Tickets
start as low as $6. Tickets for the VIP reception are $250 and
may be obtained by calling 323/257-1056.
WHO: Latino celebrities, including George Lopez and the cast of
Showtime's "Resurrection Boulevard."
Honorary Co-Chairs include Dennis Leoni, producer of
"Resurrection Boulevard" and State Assembly Member Gil Cedillo
(D-Los Angeles).
WHEN: The STRIKE OUT AIDS celebrity challenge will take place at
12:15 p.m. on the field prior to the Dodgers vs. Astros game at
1:10 p.m., and will feature Latino celebrities tossing
baseballs at two targets. For every target they hit, sponsors
will donate $100.

ETC. The Wall-Las Memorias Project (www.thewalllasmemorias.org) was
founded in 1993 to educate the Latino community about HIV/AIDS,
and to show how denial hurts families, communities, and people
living with HIV and AIDS. The Wall-Las Memorias' goal is the
construction of a memorial in Lincoln Park to honor those who
have lost their lives to AIDS, and to promote healing and
understanding for their loved ones and the community.
