 Series FREEDOM: A HISTORY OF US

    WHAT:   200 New York, New Jersey and Connecticut teachers will
            come together to learn the latest methodology for bringing
            history to life in the classroom at a teacher training
            event organized by Thirteen/WNET New York's Educational
            Resources Center. Lesson plans and activities based on
            FREEDOM: A HISTORY OF US, PBS' new 8-part series
            premiering in January, will be presented to teachers so
            they can engage and motivate their students with new ways
            of teaching/learning about history utilizing the
            methodology of public television's National Teacher
            Training Institute.
               NTTI, in its 13th year, is a peer-oriented program
            created and administered nationally by Thirteen that arms
            educators with the skills to effectively incorporate the
            latest technology into their teaching. The methodology
            combines high-tech tools, activities and dynamic
            interaction to inspire students to learn. Participants at
            the FREEDOM: A HISTORY OF US Teacher Training Event will
            learn to use the series and other broadcast and Internet
            resources from Thirteen to explain, motivate, reinforce,
            and reach their students. NTTI is an initiative of
            Thirteen's Educational Resources Center, a leading
            provider of innovative programming, online education, and
            professional development for educators.
