WHY Nearly half of all homes located on Indian reservations are
overcrowded and have serious physical deficiencies. Almost a
fifth lack complete plumbing. In addition, over 30,000
individuals and families are on waiting lists for rental
housing. It is estimated that over 200,000 housing units are
needed immediately to provide adequate housing on Indian
reservations. The remote locations of many reservations and
their unique laws present a challenge to banks' products and
services. This conference will focus on methods and resources
for encouraging partnerships that increase access to credit
and capital.
