WHAT: A group of local high school students will visit Van Nuys
Airport to learn about aviation careers through mentoring and
hands-on activities as part of Groundhog Job Shadow Day, a
nationwide educational program that promotes career
development. Prominent aviation companies and airport
employees representing various trades and professional
occupations will participate. Excellent opportunity for
visuals as students will have on-the-job learning experiences
and tour the airport. Students will also visit and climb
aboard Super Scooper firefighting aircraft.
WHO: High school students from Los Angeles Unified School
District's Sherman Oaks Center for Enriched Studies
Representatives and employees from participating aviation
companies and airport divisions
WHEN: Monday, February 2, 2004 -- 8:30 a.m.
Airport bus tour Ends at 9:45 a.m.
Super Scooper tour stop 9:15 a.m. to 9:45 a.m.
Mentoring activities 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Lunch at Airtel Plaza Hotel 12:30 p.m. to 1:45 p.m.
