JoBe Cerny, best known as the voice of the Pillsbury Dough Boy and Proctor & Gamble's unspoken spokesman for Cheer laundry detergent, is the featured guest for the American Marketing Association's (AMA) Dayton Chapter October monthly meeting. The event will be held at 5 p.m., Oct. 9, 2002, at the Mandalay Banquet Center, 2700 East River Road, Dayton.

Cerny embarked on his creative profession at Chicago's Second City alongside John Candy and Bill Murray. His exciting and successful career has included appearances on such programs as the Oprah Winfrey Show, and in acclaimed feature films including Road to Perdition.

"JoBe Cerny is an artistic and creative force, and we are tremendously fortunate to have him join us," said Tina Boyd, AMA Dayton Chapter president. "In addition to creative professionals, I encourage business people and students from other disciplines to hear his address. Cerny will present a motivational and humorous speech entitled "Working With Nothing" Creativity at the AMA meeting. Based in Chicago, the award-winning Cerny has more than 30 years experience as an actor, announcer, model, writer, director, and producer. According to him, everyone has creativity, but many need help tapping into their creative potential to be more successful in their pursuits.

Cerny is president of Cerny American Creative, a commercial, musical and corporate production company focused on creating corporate training films and providing full-service radio and television resources for agencies across the nation.

He has appeared in more than 2,500 commercials and works internationally. In addition, he has extensive television and film credits. A few of his television credits are Chicago Hope, Early Edition, The Untouchables, Jack & Mike, Lady Blue, and Chicago Story. His film credits include Road to Perdition, My Best Friend's Wedding, Prelude to a Kiss, Somewhere in Time, Mo'Money, and Rent-A-Cop.

Registration, networking and a cash bar will kick off the AMA event at 5 p.m., followed by dinner at 6 p.m. Cerny will speak at 7 p.m. The cost is $25 for members, $35 for non-members, and $20 for students. An additional $10 will be charged to late registrants.
