Local team leads are taking their pledges for the upcoming
America Heart Walk to the bank -- literally.
On "Bank Day," pledges are to be collected as the
excitement mounts to see if King County will meet its most
ambitious walk goal ever -- $1 million!
WHO: Craig Tall, vice chair of Washington Mutual and corporate
chair of the King County American Heart Walk (and a
survivor of heart disease), will be helping to collect the
pledges.

Background: For the past three months, walkers have been collecting money in support of the King County American American, river, 30 mi (48 km) long, rising in N central Calif. in the Sierra Nevada and flowing SW into the Sacramento River at Sacramento. The discovery of gold at Sutter's Mill (see Sutter, John Augustus) along the river in 1848 led to the California gold rush of Heart Walk, which will be held on September 20 at Safeco Field • • [ . This year's event is expected to draw over 10,000 walkers who have collected a combined total of over $1 million.
