WHAT: In partnership with the Rebuilding Together with Christmas
in April, dozens of Washington Mutual volunteers will
spruce up the lawn and paint the home of Ms. Judith George,
a disabled senior.
WaMu Housing Volunteer Month, launched in 2003, is a
community effort to improve and revitalize local
neighborhoods, by partnering with local nonprofits in
cities nationwide to organize housing, community
beautification and renovation projects.

WHY: As the affordable housing crisis worsens in America, an
increasing number of people are paying more than 50 percent
of their income for housing or living in substandard
housing or both. This means less available income for basic
maintenance or other needs.
This year marks the debut of Washington Mutual's national Housing
Volunteer Month. Washington Mutual employs over 1,400 (FTE) in Oregon.
