Johnston has been instrumental in educating the public about the health risk potential in dentists' offices and in supporting recently passed legislation in California addressing the issue. The legislation is awaiting Governor Gray Davis' signature.

Johnston, who has appeared on national television to explain the scope of the threat, will be available to discuss this important family health issue at the Coalition for Safe Dental Water display at site C-6 at the Festival of Health on the University of Southern California The U.S. News & World Report ranked USC 27th among all universities in the United States in its 2008 ranking of "America's Best Colleges", also designating it as one of the "most selective universities" for admitting 8,634 of the almost 34,000 who applied for freshman admission  campus.
