Jacques Benkoski, president and CEO of Monterey Design Systems, will participate in an executive-level roundtable with peers from industry, finance and market research to discuss how the EDA, semiconductor and intellectual property industries will continue to innovate during this era of tremendous change and economic challenge.

Among the issues these executives will address are:

WHAT: The EDA Front to Back trade show is a new event that was developed to
bring design engineers together with vendors in an
educational/interactive/hands -on forum that effectively complements the needs
of each.

The luncheon panel, moderated by Gary Smith, chief analyst for Dataquest's EDA service, will be held at the EDA Front to Back trade show on Wednesday, November 14 beginning at noon.

Other panelists include: Jessica Kourakos, vice president of research with Goldman Sachs; Chris Hamlin, senior vice president, chief systems technology officer with LSI Logic; Jim Kupec, president, UMC America; and Glen Wiley, vice president and general manager of Flextronics Semiconductor.

Technical Paper: A Guide to System-Driven Physical Design

As design sizes increase to tens of millions of gates, IC design is becoming prohibitively complex and costly. During this session, Tak Young, senior technologist with Monterey, will present an approach that simplifies the design process, while at the same time reduces cost and time to market. Young will describe the company's hierarchical System-Driven Physical Design methodology that features: design planning utilizing a block based design style; physical prototyping and sign-off from logic design to physical implementation; and predictable physical implementation at the block and chip level.

Test Drive Sessions

The Monterey test drive sessions will feature demonstrations of the company's System-Driven Physical Design methodology.
