Multi-Mode Technology Enables Carriers Maximum Flexibility

In DSL Provisioning

WHO AND WHAT

Ikanos Communications, developer of Smart Silicon for Profitable Broadband(TM), today announced that Dr. Behrooz Rezvani, founder and chief technology officer (CTO), will present the newest developments in very-high-data-rate Digital Subscriber Line See DSL.

Held at the Santa Clara Convention Center in Santa Clara, California Santa Clara, California (IPA: /ˌsæntəˈklærə/) , founded in 1777 and incorporated in 1852, is a city in Santa Clara County, in the U.S. state of California. , the presentation will take place on Monday, March 29, 2004, 2:00p.m. - 3:15p.m.

Dr. Rezvani will discuss the latest innovations in spectrum synchronization, cross talk management, power spectral allocation, and VDSL Long Range(TM) (VLR), which enable full integration of VDSL, VDSL2, ADSL, ADSL2, and ADSL2+ in one programmable interface. This allows carriers the flexibility to provision the full spectrum of xDSL services through one multi-mode line card.

"Hybrid network strategies that maximize the capacity of copper as a fiber adjunct must be utilized to the fullest in order to make universal broadband a reality in this generation," said Dr. Rezvani, founder and CTO of Ikanos. "The newest silicon architectures transform the copper loop plant into a highly reliable and flexible transport medium and make mass deployment of fiber-speed services attainable now."

Dr. Rezvani was the editor of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Not to be confused with the Institution of Electrical Engineers (IEE).

The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers or IEEE (pronounced as eye-triple-e

He was also one of the editors of the first edition governing document for xDSL coexistence, the Spectral Compatibility and Management standard, considered by the Federal Communications Commission Federal Communications Commission (FCC), independent executive agency of the U.S. government established in 1934 to regulate interstate and foreign communications in the public interest.  (FCC) when it addressed the issue of unbundling the local loop.

Ikanos is also slated to demonstrate its Fiber Extension over Copper Technology, transmitting 100 Mbps over a single-pair copper at the FastNet Futures conference at 3:15 p.m. on Monday, March 29 and 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 30.
