On Nov.1, women business leaders from the tri-state region
will gather for a first-of-its-kind conference designed to
link women who own or run growth firms with the knowledge,
tools and people that can help them get to the next level.
The conference will mark the launch of Women's Leadership
Exchange (WLE), a national program created to support
established women business leaders at firms with $1 to $25
million in annual revenues or in business at least three
years. Additional conferences are planned across the
country in 2003.
Founded by three New York women business owners, WLE will
honor several leading female business leaders with its
inaugural Compass Award. Ann Richards, former Texas
governor and business leader, will deliver the closing
keynote.
Women's Leadership Exchange is also awarding scholarships
to 50 women business owners still feeling the effects of
9/11 and/or successful women who are not qualified for
commerical loans. WLE is reaching out to these women
through organizations such as New York Grant Company and
Count Me In for Women's Economic Independence.
WLE has the support of several leading corporations,
including OPEN: The Small Business Network(SM) from
American Express (presenting sponsor) and more than 30
business organizations.
