TOPIC: Some hotel chains in the western United States allegedly have instituted
an electricity surcharge in response to rising power costs. According to a
story by CNN, some West Coast hotels reportedly have added a $2.50 per room
charge to offset higher prices caused by the electricity crisis in California.
Several more hotel chains are considering such charges, the story said.
