WHAT: Groundbreaking for AllianceCalifornia(SM), Hillwood's new
2,000-acre development in San Bernardino, Calif., and
topping out for the 651,880- square-foot Kohl's
distribution center.
Last December Hillwood completed a 60-acre land sale to
Kohl's. The deal was the first significant transaction and
led to the first major construction at the development
since 1994, when the former Norton Air Force Base, now
known as San Bernardino International Airport, was turned
over to the city of San Bernardino.
In December 2000 Dallas, Texas-based Hillwood was selected
as the master developer of the former air force base by
the San Bernardino International Airport Authority and the
Inland Valley Development Association.
Initially, Kohl's will employ 300 associates at the new
distribution center, with the possibility of adding
another 600 employees over the next five years. The
facility will support Kohl's planned expansion into the
Southwest, beginning with the company's entry into the Los
Angeles market in 2003.

WHERE: The event will take place at the site of Kohl's new
distribution center at 890 East Mill Street in San
Bernardino. The facility is located 1.5 miles north of
Interstate-10. Take Tippecanoe Ave north to Mill Street.
Go through the light at Mill and make an immediate left on
Paul Villasenor Ave. Follow the signs.
