WHAT: In celebration of National Adoption Month, Hallmark Channel has
partnered with Freddie Mac Foundation and Hollygrove Children &
Family Services to host Art Fair 2002: Unmasking the Wonders of
Children. The event, also sponsored by Creative Artist Agency
(CAA) Foundation, Adelphia, Charter Communications, and Time
Warner Cable, hopes to raise awareness for adoption and foster
care efforts in Los Angeles, while dispelling myths surrounding
both.
Invited guests and their families will join the children of
Hollygrove for a fun-filled day of arts and crafts activities.
The event will feature activity stations where guests can
decorate masks and t-shirts, have their face painted, create
personalized paper dolls and picture frames, and listen to
stories in a special reading room. Food and beverages will be
served, and a deejay will be on-hand to provide live
entertainment for all to enjoy.

WHY: The event provides an opportunity to raise awareness in the local
community about adoption and foster parenting, and to showcase
one of Hollygrove's greatest assets, its kids, and the
Therapeutic Arts program, which helps the children in their care
to heal and develop emotionally, intellectually, spiritually and
physically. Founded as the Los Angeles Orphans Home Society,
Hollygrove is the oldest nonsectarian home for children in
Southern California and is child-centered and family-focused.
Since its inception in 1880, Hollygrove has cared for more than
15,000 children.
Hallmark Channel, a 24-hour television network that provides high
quality entertainment programming that is family-friendly to a
national audience of more than 48 million subscribers, was
recently honored by the Congressional Directors of the
Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute (CCAI) with a
