--(BUSINESS WIRE)

WHAT: In a witty and amusing seminar for living souls, "Outrageous
Older Woman" Lisa Carlson, author of "I Died Laughing" and
"Caring for the Dead: Your Final Act of Love," approaches
necessary end-of-life issues with sensitivity, sensibility
and humor. In conjunction with the Center for Gerontology at
Orthopaedic Hospital, this free seminar covers a variety of
issues that many of us will have to confront in preparing for
death, either for ourselves or for a loved one. Topics
include the provisions that can be made for pain management
if terminally ill, the extent of "heroic effort" that
hospital staff should use to sustain life, and the stressful
maze of handling final arrangements, as well as other
practical aspects for preparing for end-of-life issues. With
an approach that is absolutely unconventional, this
extraordinary seminar promises to be anything but ordinary!

The Center for Gerontology at Orthopaedic Hospital recently
opened earlier this year in order to provide resources for
the growing senior population in Southern California. Through
its services, the Center enables the elderly to live healthy,
productive and satisfying lives. Addressing the specific
needs of the older population, Orthopaedic Hospital's Center
for Gerontology aims to establish itself as the premier
hospital-based resource for gerontology and geriatric related
         services in Southern California.
