SUMMARY: Green Mountain Energy's Winston Solar Challenge will kick off on
Tuesday, July 17, at Dell Computer's Round Rock campus near Austin, Texas.
Eight high school teams from across the United States and Mexico will compete
in a cross-country solar race. The eight-day, 1,400-mile challenge is designed
to motivate students in the sciences, provide hands-on experience with
cutting-edge technology and emphasize the value of alternative energy sources.
Students and judges will be using Dell Inspiron notebooks to access a wireless
network to fix their location, gauge solar car battery usage, monitor weather
patterns, track their competitors and record other important race data that
