 (April 27)

--(BUSINESS WIRE)

WHAT: Actress Tippi Hedren, the star of more than twenty-five
feature films and numerous television appearances ("The
Birds," "Pacific Heights"), teams up again with Orthopaedic
Hospital in Los Angeles to promote osteoporosis awareness and
prevention, and to educate women about this bone-thinning
disease. Tippi will receive a state-of-the-art DEXA screening
by internationally renowned bone density expert, Robert K.
Rude, M.D. Considered to be the best technique available, the
screening scans the hip and spine -- both major sites of
osteoporotic fracture -- and is a painless X-ray procedure
that takes less than half an hour.

Currently, 28 million Americans suffer from osteoporosis each
year, 80% of whom are women, and most fail to understand the
importance of routine screenings. "Many Americans don't get
screened because they falsely believe they're not at risk for
osteoporosis," said Dr. Rude. "They may not understand that
osteoporosis is a silent, progressive disease that depletes
bone density long before symptoms are evident. If detected
early, the effects of osteoporosis can be prevented and, in
some cases, reversed," he added. Dr. Rude recommends that
women over the age of 50, who have risk factors for
osteoporosis, and all post-menopausal women over the age of
65, be screened for this bone-thinning disease. Men over age
65 should be screened as well.

WHO: Golden Globe Award-winning actress Tippi Hedren will receive
a DEXA screening and osteoporotic analysis by internationally
renowned bone density expert, Robert K. Rude, M.D. In
addition, Dr. Rude will provide a general overview about both
the myths and the real facts surrounding this bone-thinning
disease, including "How can I prevent osteoporosis?" and "Why
         are screenings important?"
