What: Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) and the Los
Angeles Dodgers are hosting an all-girls softball Power
Hitter Clinic and Competition at Dodger Stadium for the
second consecutive year. This event will feature hundreds of
softball players, ages 7-14, participating in hitting,
pitching, catching and fielding clinics led by Dodger pitcher
Tom Martin; Dodger infielder Jolbert Cabrera; and former
Dodger great Steve Yeager.
Original members of the women's professional baseball team
who inspired the movie "A League of Their Own" will also be
on hand. After this training session the young ladies will
compete in a hitting competition with winners advancing to a
final contest to be held at Dodger Stadium later in this
season.

Why: This is the second of five LADWP Power Hitter events planned
at Los Angeles city parks during the baseball season. The
event is one of the many ways that the LADWP demonstrates its
commitment to the community and the youth of Los Angeles.
