WHAT: Brooks Sports Inc. continues its 2002 Muddy Buddy(R) Ride and Run Event Series in Chicago on September 28. The one-of-a-kind team competition will take place outside Chicago at Indian Hills Farm in Gilberts, Illinois on Saturday, September 28. The race consists of teams of two running and biking through 10-kilometers of trails, challenging obstacles and the infamous Muddy Buddy(R) mud pit. WHEN: Saturday, September 28 at 9 a.m. WHERE: Indian Hills Farm in Gilberts, Illinois WHY: The unique Brooks Muddy Buddy(R) 10K event works like a relay. One participant is running while the other is biking. At each mile mark, the cyclist drops the bike and conquers an obstacle and transitions to the runner, while the runner completes the obstacle course and transitions to the cyclist. Race divisions include elite, co-ed, male, female and Beast (team combined weight of more than 400 pounds). Winners from regional races qualify to compete in the Brooks Muddy Buddy(R) World Championship on Catalina Island off the coast of southern California on December 6, 2002. Challenged athlete Sandy Dukat, a member of the US Disabled Ski Team, will participate in the Chicago Brooks Muddy Buddy(R) on the 28th. DIRECTIONS TO RACE: Indian Hills Farm is located in Gilberts, Illinois, just eight miles northwest of Elgin, Illinois. From Chicago: Take I 90 to Randall Road, exit and turn right on Randall Road. Turn left or west on Illinois 72 (Higgins Road). Head west on Higgins through the town of Gilberts. Turn right on Big Timber Lane, right on Powers Road and make an immediate right hand turn into Indian Hills Farm. From the Northwest: Take I90 and exit at Hwy 20. Turn right on Hwy 20 and head east to Big Timber Lane. Turn left on Big Timber lane and go several miles to Powers Road. Turn left on Powers Road and an immediate right into Indian Hills Farm.
