WHAT: The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power will be hosting
a Torchiere Exchange event, where the first 1,000 LADWP
customers can bring in their old, unsafe halogen Torchiere
floor lamps and receive a new, safe fluorescent floor lamp or
a six-pack of compact fluorescent bulbs FREE! There will also
be an environmental family expo where residents can learn
more ways to save energy and help the environment.
WHEN: Saturday, November 9, 2002 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

WHO: LADWP customers
LADWP Energy Efficiency and Green LA staff
VISUALS: Residential customers bringing and exchanging their old,
unsafe Torchiere floor lamps for new, safe fluorescent
Torchiere floor lamps. Also, customers will be visiting
displays to learn about participation in other LADWP Green LA
programs including incentives for Solar and other Energy
Efficiency efforts. Other Green LA programs include Trees for
a Green LA, where customers attending a two-hour workshop can
receive up to seven free shade trees, and Green Power, where
customers can sign up to help bring new renewable energy into
the city.
Halogen Torchiere lamps can be a fire hazard and they use a
great deal energy. The fluorescent Torchiere lights that are
being given away free are both safe and efficient.
