TOPIC: An out-of-control fire caused all 18,000 residents of Los Alamos, NM to evacuate their homes and town, as reported on MSNBC.com. The National Park Service, allegedly, set the fire, known as a prescribed burn (or back-burn), to clear the brush at nearby Bandelier National Monument Bandelier National Monument: see National Parks and Monuments (table).

Army troops were brought in to secure plutonium and explosive materials that were stored at the Los Alamos Nuclear Laboratory.
