Hill Agency Award for Excellence. The winner of the award will be announced next week at the agency's semi-annual conference in South Lake Tahoe, May 9-11. The award is an annual program that recognizes outstanding achievements by public water agencies. The winning agency receives a $3,000 scholarship to award to a deserving student in the name of Clair A. Hill, founder of the consulting engineering firm CH2M Hill CH2M HILL is a global provider of engineering, construction, and operations services for corporations, nonprofits, and federal, state, and local governments with regional offices worldwide. . The winner is also recognized at the association's conference as well as throughout the year. There were eight finalists in four of the categories for the award. The finalists and the categories are: CATEGORY 1 -- Operations: The San Diego San Diego (săn dēā`gō), city (1990 pop. 1,110,549), seat of San Diego co., S Calif., on San Diego Bay; inc. 1850. CATEGORY 3 -- Public Information/Education: Eastern Municipal Water District for its Wetlands Water Education Program. CATEGORY 4 -- Innovations: Santa Clara Valley Water District The Santa Clara Valley Water District provides stream stewardship, wholesale water supply and flood protection for Santa Clara County, California, in the southern San Francisco Bay Area. for its "Clean, Safe Creeks and Natural Flood Protection Program." The Clair A. Hill Award was established by ACWA in 1988 at the request of CH2M Hill. Past award recipients include Irvine Ranch Water District (1989), Las Virgenes Municipal Water District (1990), Imperial Irrigation irrigation, in agriculture, artificial watering of the land.
