ADVISORY/Federal Group to Recommend Software Review.Business Editors ADVISORY... --(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 21, 2000 TOPIC: The Associated Press reports that a federally created commission, geared at protecting children from seeing online pornography, is pushing for an independent bureau to review filtering software. The commission's alleged goal is to shield children from pornography, without infringing on free speech and privacy laws, the story reports. Some industry experts allege that the attempt is futile because U.S. regulations cannot affect content originating from outside the country. The commission was established under the Child Online Protection Act and includes government and industry representatives. The commission is scheduled to present its final report to Congress next month.
