What: Network World Spam Forum: The Future of Email

Network World's Spam Forum will explore the future of email as a
personal and business productivity tool, one that's threatened by the
tidal wave of spam. We'll look at growing customer exhaustion with the
flood of email and new regulatory and legislative efforts to rein in
spam. We'll bring together leading experts from the Internet service
provider business, the marketing community, IT professionals,
anti-spam organizations and technology companies and the government to
talk about the challenges facing email and how we can maintain it as a
powerful communications medium. Discussion will include:

-- Current anti-spam legislation in effect and before Congress,
-- What alternatives might be better for legislators to focus on,
-- The role of technology and efforts by ISPs and anti-spam vendors
    to assist consumers and businesses,
-- How to change the economics of spam to make it less palatable,
-- Issues facing legitimate marketing organizations as they use
e-mail more frequently in their marketing efforts.

will moderate the two-hour press-only event to discuss this issue.
