ADVISORY/Experts Available to Discuss Supreme Court Decision That Juries, Not Judges, Can Decide On Death Penalty.

Business Editors

ADVISORY...
TOPIC: In a 7-2 decision, the Supreme Court ruled it is unconstitutional for judges to sentence a person to death, unless the jury concludes that the facts justify such a sentence, according to an article by CNN. Legal analysts say more than 100 death row inmates may have their sentences reconsidered in Montana, Idaho, Colorado, Nebraska and Arizona where the judges may have made such findings of fact. The Supreme Court majority stated that such cases, in which a judge imposes a death sentence, violate the right to trial by jury, the article says.
