ADVISORY/Experts Available to Discuss Study on Marriage and Divorce.

Business Editors

ADVISORY...

TOPIC: Study results presented at the Coalition for Marriage, Families and Couples Education conference suggest that unhappily married people who stay together are happier than those who divorce after five years, according to an article by USA Today. Researchers from the University of Chicago reviewed data on 5,232 married couples, in which 645 couples were unhappy. Five years later, 167 of the unhappy couples divorced and half said they were happy, while two-thirds of the 478 couples who stayed married claimed to be happy. Couples who stayed together cited improved communication, marital endurance and personal change as reasons why their marriages survived, the article says.
