ADVISORY/Experts Available to Discuss Sept. 11 Charitable Funds.

Business Editors

ADVISORY...

--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 20, 2002
TOPIC: An analysis by USA TODAY found that families of New York City emergency workers killed at the World Trade Center received seven times more in charitable funds than others. Families of New York firefighters and ambulance personnel received approximately $1,037,000 in tax-free cash, while families of New York police officers are receiving $929,000. For families whose relatives died during the Sept. 11 attacks in New York, Arlington, Va., and Shanksville, Pa., an average amount of $146,000 will be given, the article says. Experts say the reason is because many donors gave to charities that were set up specifically for New York City emergency workers.
