TOPIC: Researchers at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center announced they set a new Internet speed record this week, according to a report by CNN.com. The researchers were able to transfer 6.7 gigabytes of data, using fiber-optic cables, across 6,800 miles in less than one minute. Eventually, researchers believe this will allow faster downloads of DVDs along with other functions for everyday Internet use.
