accidents were at their highest this winter, according to an article by The New
York Times. Mike Kaplan, vice president for mountain operations for the Aspen
Skiing Company, says there is no "common element" in the 15 deaths, the article
says. However, the increased death toll is reviving the idea of using helmets
to protect against serious head injuries caused by ski accidents. Medical
