TOPIC: A controversial Internet deregulation bill is receiving opposition from
the National Governor's Association and trade groups, as reported by
Newsbytes.com. The bill, nicknamed "Tauzin-Dingell" for its sponsors, would
make it easier for Baby Bells to enter the high-speed Internet market and would
allow broadband services to be made available to more Americans in rural areas.
Those who oppose the bill say it would disrupt the authority of state
regulators and would no longer hold the Bells accountable for poor customer
service, the article says. The House is expected to make a decision on the bill
