TOPIC: An additional 285 security guards will patrol New York City schools in response to the stabbing of 18-year-old student Darnell McCall at Springfield Gardens High School in Far Rockaway, according to an article by The Associated Press. The guards will be placed in 66 schools in the city and will work from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. The school system currently employs 3,850 security guards, which is about 400 short of what is provided for in the budget. McCall was last reported in stable condition and another student at the school was charged with the attack.
