ADVISORY/Experts Available To Discuss West Nile Virus and Prevention.

Business Editors

ADVISORY...

--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 2, 2002
TOPIC: The West Nile virus has infected 58 Louisiana residents, four of which have died, and continues to spread throughout the state, according to an article by MSNBC.com. Gov. Mike Foster has declared a statewide emergency in the hopes of gaining federal money to help fight the virus, which can cause encephalitis. According to a report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 31 states and the District of Columbia have reported West Nile virus activity this year, the article says. Health experts say the chances of contracting the virus are slim and people can reduce the risk further by using mosquito repellents, wearing long sleeves and pants and eliminating standing water where mosquitoes are likely to breed.
