TOPIC: A survey conducted by Telephia Inc., a wireless research firm, found the use of short text messaging (SMS) has increased to 45 percent from 22 percent in cell phone users aged 18 to 24, according to an article by Reuters. The survey compared the numbers from the fourth quarter of 2001 with those of 2002. In its quarterly study of 40,000 subscribers and nonsubscribers in the 35 largest U.S. markets, Telephia also found that 32 percent of wireless users intend to upgrade their cell phones in 2003.
