ADVISORY/Experts Available To Discuss Smallpox Vaccination.

Business Editors

ADVISORY...

--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 16, 2002
TOPIC: The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices will meet this week to discuss the smallpox vaccine and the recommendation to administer it, according to an article by The Associated Press. Although smallpox was eradicated, some experts fear that terrorists who have samples of the virus may use it as a biological weapon, the article says. Federal health officials suggested the vaccine be given to more than 10 million health workers and be made available to anyone who wants it. The committee will also review other concerns including the childhood immunization shortage issue in recent years.
