Business Editors

ADVISORY...

--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 5, 2002
TOPIC: New dietary guidelines from the Institute of Medicine recommend that adults and children get at least one hour of exercise per day, which is twice the amount previously recommended by the surgeon general, according to an article by The Associated Press. The Institute also suggests that people get 45% to 65% of their calories from carbohydrates, 20% to 30% from fat and 10% to 35% from protein. The Institute's guidelines are based on thousands of studies on the consumption of fats, carbohydrates and protein and their possible correlations with various diseases.
