TOPIC: A study found that out of five nations in the Americas and Europe, the United States has the highest percentage of mentally ill people, but provides less treatment, according to an article by HealthScoutNews. The study was based on a survey of more than 23,000 people in Chile, Germany, Holland, the United States and Ontario, Canada. Nearly 30 percent of those surveyed in the United States reported some sort of emotional problems. Only a third of them who reported a serious mental illness received treatment. The United States also has the highest percentage of people reporting anxiety at 17 percent and drug and alcohol abuse at 11.5 percent.
