The euro, Europe's new single currency, has dropped more than 15 percent in value against the U.S. dollar since its launch a year ago on January 4, reports Alex P. Beuzelin, Market Analyst at Ruesch International.

Predicted to rival the U.S. dollar and the Japanese yen “Yen” redirects here. For the other use, see Yen (disambiguation).

as a benchmark currency, the euro reached a seven-month high against the U.S. dollar in mid-October, but has plunged more than 9 percent during the past 8 weeks.

"Despite its volatility during the first year, the single currency is changing the way U.S. companies conduct business in Europe making it easier to reduce risk and create bottom-line savings," observes Beuzelin.
