In the session on Residential Gateways, O'Donnell will join other industry leaders to present ideas for defining systems-level concepts and architectures for emerging residential gateway systems. The session will explore the technical issues involved in resolving the needs for these systems to support both voice and data traffic, focusing primarily on high data rate options. O'Donnell will present a paper entitled, "A Next-Generation Residential Gateway Offering Field Upgradeability," and will discuss how Equator is helping companies offer fully functional, residential gateways that are designed to keep pace with rapidly changing technology demands. Furthermore, the paper will explore technology requirements for creating residential gateways that provide end-users with access to a broad range of higher quality broadband services, such as simultaneous multi-video streaming, interactive TV, Video on Demand (VOD), digital rights management and electronic program guide (EPG), all at significantly lower costs.
