The wheels on the bus go round and round, goes the classic children's song. But on Monday, April 26, the bus pulling up to Franklin Elementary School Franklin Elementary School is the name of many elementary schools, usually named after Benjamin Franklin. They include:
  • Franklin Elementary School (Burlingame, California), Burlingame, California
 in Trenton, NJ, will be anything but typical. In the Pearson Digital Learning "eBus," Franklin students will experience a cool, at-school field trip to explore entertaining software programs designed to teach young learners reading/language arts, math, science and social studies.

Following a brief instructional program, district education leaders, Trenton city officials, state politicians and state education dignitaries will also become "students" as they board the "eBus" to witness first-hand how technology can individualize in·di·vid·u·al·ize

One of the programs on view will be the Waterford Early Reading Program(TM), which the New Jersey Department of Education The New Jersey Department of Education administers state and federal aid programs affecting more than 1.4 million public and non-public elementary and secondary school children in the state of New Jersey.  has listed as an approved supplemental technology program. Waterford's unique computer-based instruction adapts to an individual user's learning pace, regardless of primary language or pre-literacy exposure. Two New Jersey districts that were recently awarded federal Reading First grants will be using Waterford as part of their programs.

The colorful "eBus" is a school bus turned mobile computer lab outfitted with 13 computer workstations and Internet satellite connectivity. With a specific emphasis on standards-aligned, research-based curriculum, the eBus highlights programs that use technology to improve student performance. In addition to the Waterford Early Reading Program and Waterford Early Math and Science(TM) courseware for preK-2 students, attendees can view KnowledgeBox(R) K-6 Digital Learning System, and SuccessMaker(R) Enterprise, electronic curriculum for preK-8 students.
