WHAT:           "A Salute to African-American Designers" is a
                benefit fashion show for the Magic Johnson
                Foundations' National Health Awareness Initiatives.
                MJF has expanded its mission to address the urgent
                health issues that face men, women and children
                residing in the urban communities. This initiative
                will help educate and raise awareness on HIV/AIDS,
                breast cancer and the Men's Health "Know Your Score"
                Program.

Earvin "Magic" Johnson, founder and chair of the Magic Johnson Foundation (MJF), will host the third annual "A Salute to African-American Designers" fashion show on Saturday evening, April 15, at the Pacific Design Center in West Hollywood West Hollywood

The highlight of the program will be the special presentation of the "Gift of Life" Award to LaBelle and Roundtree for their tireless efforts in educating the community about important health issues that impact its well-being.

Funds raised from the festive affair will directly benefit the Magic Johnson Foundation National Health Awareness Initiative programs, including: Breast Cancer Awareness, B.R.E.A.T.H.E. (Bring Education on Asthma to Homes Everywhere), Depression, Men's Health Men's Health Definition

Men's health is concerned with identifying, preventing, and treating conditions that are most common or specific to men.

    To further the forum that displays the talents of African-American designers, the Magic Johnson Foundation and Bristol-Myers Squibb have joined forces to create the program, Secure the Future -- "African Children's Design Jacket Project." This unique project was established to raise awareness and mobilize resources for HIV/AIDS in sub-Saharan Africa.

    Celebrities submitting jacket designs to African beaders either infected or affected by HIV/AIDS include Earvin "Magic" Johnson, Samuel L. Jackson, Lauryn Hill, Tyra Banks, Kobe Bryant, Patti LaBelle, LeVar Burton, and reigning Miss Universe Mpule Kwelagobe. The jackets will be modeled and displayed by child celebrities during the fashion show.

    Additionally, Pfizer and the Magic Johnson Foundation have partnered to contribute monetary and educational support to the Men's Health Initiative, "Know Your Score."
