WHAT: A spirited kickoff event, presented by L.A. Convention 2000,
the host committee for the event, the Los Angeles Downtown
Center Business Improvement District (DCBID) and
MaguirePartners (cq), in advance of the Democratic National
Convention. Dignitaries will hand out "Welcome to Los
Angeles" buttons and posters for local businesses, beginning
with Paul Roohani, general manager of McCormick & Schmick's
Seafood Restaurant, and his staff.
WHO: Passing out buttons and posters will be Los Angeles Mayor
Richard J. Riordan; Carol Schatz, DCBID chief executive
officer and president; Noelia Rodriquez, chief executive
officer of L.A. Convention 2000; and prominent developer
Robert F. Maguire III, managing partner of MaguirePartners.

WHERE: McCormick & Schmick's Seafood Restaurant -- outdoor patio area

WHY: The DCBID, L.A. Convention 2000 and MaguirePartners are
encouraging all businesses in Downtown Los Angeles to display
welcome signs in their windows and have employees wear welcome
buttons.
