WHAT:  The Downtown Center Business Improvement District (DCBID),
       Central City Association (CCA), and over 40 Downtown
       businesses, will host its "3rd Annual Public Safety
       Appreciation Barbecue" to thank the men and women of the LAPD,
       LAFD, Sheriff's Department, CHP, and LADOT for their time,
       energy and support in keeping Downtown Los Angeles safe not
       only during high profile events, such as the Lakers Celebration
       Parade, but on a daily basis.

WHO:   LAPD Interim Chief of Police Martin Pomeroy, LAFD Deputy Chief
       of Operations John Callahan, 9th District Councilmember Jan
       Perry, and 3rd District Councilmember Dennis Zine will be in
       attendance. A special presentation will be made to the Los
       Angeles Fire Department.

WHEN:  Friday, August 23, 2002
       12 p.m. - 2 p.m.
       Presentation: Approximately 12:45 p.m.

WHERE: Pershing Square
       532 S. Olive Street
       Corner of 5th and Olive Street
       Downtown Los Angeles


NOTE:  All Public Safety personnel eat FREE (with proper I.D.).
       We are asking the public for a $2.00 donation at the event that
       will benefit the Widows and Orphans Fund of the Los Angeles
       Fireman's Relief Association.
