Popular "LADWP/Dodger Power Hitter Clinic and Competition"

Expected to Attract Hundreds of Young Ballplayers


What:             The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power
                  (LADWP) is teaming up with the Los Angeles Dodgers
                  to sponsor its very popular "Power Hitter Clinic and
                  Competition." The clinic will provide baseball fans
                  ages 6 - 14 an opportunity to learn baseball
                  fundamentals from Dodger Cesar Izturis and Dodger
                  coach Manny Mota. Following the clinic, the children
                  will compete in a hitting competition, with the
                  winners advancing to the finals at Dodger Stadium on
                  September 14.

          clinic and hitting competition. Participants and City
          residents visiting the LADWP community booth, where they
          will receive information on how to conserve water and energy
          during the summer months.

Why: This event is one of many the LADWP sponsors to demonstrate its
     commitment to the community it serves and the children of Los
     Angeles. Other events include the Community Salute and Dodger
     Jams programs.
