ADVISORY/Dodgers' Odalis Perez Pitches Teamwork Message to Students at LADWP Program; Berendo Middle School Students Also Learn About Water & Power Issues.

Business Editors/Education Writers

ADVISORY...for Wednesday Wednesday: see week.  (Aug. 21)

--(BUSINESS WIRE)

WHAT: The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power
(LADWP) and the Los Angeles Dodgers are teaming up
to bring one of the partnership's most welcomed
community outreach programs -- Dodger Jams -- to
Berendo Middle School. Dodger Jams is a school
assembly featuring live music and entertainment
combined with motivational messages. The program is
designed to award students for achievement and
encourage them to get involved in their community.
The program will focus on the theme: "It's all about
T.E.A.M. -- Teamwork, Effort, Attitude and
                  Motivation."

Dodger Odalis Perez understands this theme well and
put it to the test on Saturday when he and his
teammates worked hard to prevent any Met from
reaching base in the first six-plus innings of the
game. Former Dodger Lee Lacy will draw on his 16
years in Major League Baseball to teach the
                  students.

WHO: -- Dodger Pitcher Odalis Perez
                  -- Former Dodger Lee Lacy
                  -- LADWP Representatives
-- Hundreds of middle school students

WHEN: Wednesday, August 21, 2002
                  1:30 p.m.

WHERE: Berendo Middle School Auditorium
                  1157 S. Berendo St.

with hundreds of school students participating in
musical jam sessions and motivational speeches.
Students will also check out the LADWP community
booth, where they can learn about water and energy
                  conservation.

WHY: The event is one of many the LADWP sponsors to
demonstrate its commitment to the community and the
children of Los Angeles. Other events include the
Dodger Power Hitter Clinics and Competitions and
                  Dodger Community Salute programs.
