The Fast 50 program is presented by Deloitte & Touche and sponsored
by Bowne, Brobeck Phleger & Harrison, Comerica, E-MEDIA, KPBS,
MARSH, Inc., and The T Sector, in association with the AeA, CMTC,
Promotions By Design, and the Software Council of Southern California.

WHEN:    The final ranking will be announced at an awards dinner on
         October 7, at the La Costa Resort and Spa, Carlsbad.

HOW:     Winning companies have self-nominated or have been nominated
         by a third party. To qualify, companies must be in business
         for a minimum of 5 years; must not be a subsidiary or
         division; must have 1997 revenues of at least $50,000, and
         2001 revenues of $1 million or more; and must be considered a
         technology company which is specifically defined as a company
         that owns proprietary technology that contributes to a
         significant portion of the company's operating revenues.
         Using other companies' technology in a unique way does not
         qualify.

         "Rising Star" winners are also chosen. Criteria is the same,
         except that Rising Star winners are selected based on
         percentage of growth in revenues for three years from 1999-
         2001. All U.S.-based Fast 50 companies will automatically be
         entered in the Deloitte & Touche Technology Fast 500, a
         ranking of the 500 fastest growing technology companies in
         North America.
