(March 1) --(BW HealthWire)
Who: Daniel B. Yarosh, Ph.D., President of AGI Dermatics, is
presenting the results of their clinical study on prevention
of skin cancer before the Photomedicine Society, meeting in
conjunction with the American Academy of Dermatology.
What: T4N5 Liposomes Lotion (tradename Dimericine(tm)) is the lead
drug of AGI Dermatics the clinical results shows that it
prevents skin cancer.
When: 11:30 am, Thursday, March 1, 2001
Where: PhotoMedicine Society meeting at the Washington DC Renaissance
Hotel, 999 9th St NW, Ballroom West B.
Why: Dr. Yarosh will present for the first time the results of a
clinical study showing prevention of skin cancer by a new
biotechnology drug. The drug is applied topically to the skin,
once and day, and uses liposomes to deliver DNA repair enzymes
into the skin that reverse the DNA damage caused by sunlight.
In a one-year study of patients with the genetic disease
xeroderma pigmentosum, who lack DNA repair and easily develop
skin cancer, the drug reduced skin cancer by 30% and reduced a
pre-cancerous form by 68%, over and above the protection from
sunscreens. This topical lotion is a new approach to
preventing skin cancer in all people damaged by sunlight. Dr.
David Leffell, a Yale University Dermatologist, calls this
"the biggest advance since sunscreens."
Interview opportunity: Interviews may be arranged prior to the meeting by request, or following the meeting. |
