Five-Decade Long Career


WHO:     John Frankenheimer, award winning television and theatrical
         film director. Frankenheimer's list of credits span more
         than 50 years and include such television movies as "Path
         to War," "George Wallace," "Andersonville," "The Burning
         Season" and "Against the Wall"; his theatrical films include
         "Reindeer Games," "Ronin," "The Manchurian Candidate" and
         "Birdman of Alcatraz."

         Charles Champlin, internationally recognized film historian
         and former Los Angeles Times film critic. Champlin, who
         served as a columnist, entertainment editor and principal
         film critic for the Los Angeles Times, also is the author of
         "John Frankenheimer, A Conversation with Charles Champlin."

WHEN:    Tuesday, May 14, 2002

WHAT:    Champlin and Frankenheimer will discuss the director's long
         career and his extraordinary body of work covering episodic
         series, theatrical films and television movies. Frankenheimer
         also will discuss his return to directing movies for
         television and the challenges and rewards that are inherent
         to the genre. A screening of the director's latest film for
         HBO, "Path to War," will follow the discussion.
