Muhammad Yunus (Bengali: মুহাম্মদ ইউনুস, pronounced MuhammĂ´d Iunus 
 is internationally recognized for his work in poverty alleviation and the empowerment of poor women. He's the founder of Grameen Bank Grameen Bank: see Yunus, Muhammad.

While in Seattle, Dr. Yunus also will speak at a free, public Town Hall meeting on Monday evening as part of the Forum 2001 Speaker Series. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. at Town Hall, 8th Avenue and Seneca Street in Seattle. Tickets are not necessary. The event is co-sponsored by the Craig and Susan McCaw Susan Rasinski McCaw is the current U.S. Ambassador to Austria. She was sworn in on November 30 2005.
