WHAT:   Consumer electronics industry representatives are available to
        discuss the impact of the Federal Communications Commission's
        (FCC) Open Meeting regarding the commercial availability of
        navigation devices and compatibility between cable systems and
        consumer electronics equipment. The Order likely will include
        regulations to facilitate the connection of high definition
        (HDTV) and digital television (DTV) products purchased from
        retail outlets to cable systems and other multichannel video
        programming distributors. The FCC action could be an important
        tipping point in the U.S. transition to digital television
        allowing cable subscribers nationwide to access easily HDTV
        via their cable provider.
