Pipeline Shutdown Affecting Water Supplies of 1 Million Consumers
in Eastern Los Angeles and Western San Bernardino Counties
WHAT: Water agencies offer briefing on response to urgent water
conservation plea in cities in eastern Los Angeles and western
San Bernardino counties that are being affected by shutdown
and repair of major imported water line. Officials also will
provide updates on latest local water supplies and an
up-to-the-minute progress report on repair of the
8-foot-diameter Rialto Feeder pipeline.

BACKGROUND
Early this morning, Metropolitan Water District crews shut
down and began repairs on the Rialto pipeline, requiring
requests for water conservation until the water line is
repaired. About 1 million residents in the cities of La Verne,
Claremont, Chino, Chino Hills, Montclair, Ontario, Rancho
Cucamonga, Upland and Fontana are being asked to save water
during the outage to stretch local supplies.
